Damian Lillard has missed six straight games and the All-Star Game because of a groin injury. He got injured in the final minutes of a game in Memphis right before the All-Star break. Damian was having a top-five MVP caliber season before getting hurt.
Lillard has averaged 29.5 points per game this year. For a player who drives to the hoop, recovering from a groin strain is a big deal. It’s also worth noting that in Dame’s absence, CJ McCollum’s shot has come back to life. Washington gives up a lot of points, but last night they had a spectacular third quarter against the Kings, coming back from a huge deficit. Ultimately, the Wizards lost last night, but it’s worth considering that the volume of points may distribute to Lillard regardless of how he is feeling. I anticipate CJ and Gary Trent Jr. to take some of the offense away from Lillard–who may be a little rusty himself. I’m looking at taking under Dame’s points total.
