The Chicago Fire were an unknown commodity going into this season. After a decent week one performance in Seattle against the reigning champion, the Fire head across the country to Boston. They will face a Revolution team who lost to Montreal last week 2-1. In my opinion, New England is terrible. I have no confidence in Bruce Arena rebuilding the Revs to a playoff contender in 2020.
On the other side of the pitch, I liked what I saw from the Fire last week. They have an excellent counter-attack. The times Chicago looked weak were small defensive breakdowns and the inability to possess the ball out of the midfield. The quality of the Sounders was part of the reason, but I think it’s also because Chicago needs to learn their identity, which may take some time. Allowing a 90’+3′ goal ultimately cost them in their 2-1 loss. Regardless, I want to bet against the Revolution. I see this as a draw, but I feel better betting a draw no bet spread. I’ll be taking the half goal in this one.
